Java / XML Software Developer & AI Integration (all genders)

Do you enjoy coding and want to connect software with artificial intelligence? At valitool, you will contribute to our products and help shape their technical development. We develop software for validating, visualising and assuring the quality of electronic invoices. Your work combines Java and XML with MCP interfaces and the integration of AI solutions designed to run locally wherever possible. You will work at the intersection of software development, structured business data and commercial processes.
Your responsibilities
- Developing our existing Java and XML applications.
- Helping develop MCP interfaces that give AI applications targeted access to our software’s functions.
- Integrating an AI solution into our products that runs locally wherever possible, and practically testing suitable models and tools.
- Exploring ways to make relevant information and specialist knowledge available to AI using RAG.
- Implementing features, analysing bugs and using tests to verify changes.
- Using AI tools in development, understanding and reviewing generated code, and correcting it when necessary.
What you bring
- Practical programming experience from your own projects, vocational training, university studies or previous work.
- Java skills and basic XML knowledge, or a willingness to learn XML.
- The ability to read code, understand how it works and systematically narrow down errors.
- An interest in AI applications and a basic understanding of LLMs and topics such as MCP and RAG.
- Enthusiasm for exploring new technical possibilities and turning them into reliable software.
You do not need to have built a complete AI solution already. What matters is that you can code, want to understand how technology works and are ready to explore these topics with us.
Additional strengths
- Your own experiments with locally hosted language models, MCP or RAG.
- An understanding of commercial operations and business processes.
- Go or Rust skills — both languages are optional.
What we offer
- Work and study: you will be employed by valitool and actively contribute to our products.
- Ideally, you would like to begin or continue a work-compatible bachelor’s or master’s degree, for example in business information systems, computer science or a suitable AI programme.
- By agreement, we contribute towards your tuition fees. We will agree together on the university, study model and level of support. There is no requirement to attend a particular university.
- We want to work with you long term and offer opportunities for development beyond graduation.
- We will transparently agree on the level of study support and its associated conditions before funding begins.
